There are two ways to edit Elementor pages with an AI app through MCP, and “Elementor MCP” can mean either one. As of October 2026, Elementor’s own MCP is a beta that creates drafts on Elementor 4 layouts. PowerWP AI, a WordPress plugin, reads and edits classic Elementor pages widget by widget, with a dry run first and a rollback.
What Elementor MCP means
MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is an open standard that lets an AI app ask a website what it can do, then do it. The site offers tools such as “read this page” or “change that text”. For Elementor, the tools must understand a page the way Elementor stores it: sections, containers and widgets, not one block of text.
Two layouts matter. Classic Elementor pages (V3) are built from sections, columns, containers and widgets such as heading, text editor, button and icon box. Elementor 4 adds V4 “atomic” elements. Which route fits depends on which of the two your pages use.
Elementor’s own MCP
As of October 2026, Elementor describes its MCP as a beta in Elementor 4.3. It connects Claude, Codex, Cursor and other apps. It creates drafts only, so new work never goes live without you. It works on Elementor V4 layouts, and support for classic V3 widget layouts is listed as planned.
If you build new pages on V4 layouts and want everything to start as a draft, it is a good fit. It also comes from Elementor itself. If your site runs on classic widgets today, check its page for the current status before you rely on it.
How PowerWP AI edits Elementor pages
PowerWP AI is a WordPress plugin that connects AI apps to your site through MCP. Since version 1.6 it has Elementor tools, and Elementor must be active on the site. Claude and ChatGPT connect by signing in to your site. Claude Code, Codex and Cursor use a connection key.
The Elementor guide has every step with a prompt to paste. An edit runs in four steps:
- Read. The app asks for the page outline. It looks like Elementor’s Navigator: every section, container and widget with its id, type and visible texts, links and images. It leaves out styles, and it says if someone has staged unpublished changes.
- Agree. You get a list of element, setting, current text and proposed text. A general “go ahead” doesn’t cover texts you haven’t seen.
- Dry run. After a checkpoint, the app runs the edit as a dry run that shows every value before and after. The live page changes at once when you apply it, so this step matters.
- Apply. The app saves through Elementor, which rebuilds the page’s CSS. It can update settings, replace an exact phrase, remove, duplicate or move an element. A setting name the widget doesn’t know is refused, not guessed.
Elementor 4 and new pages
For V4 atomic elements and new pages, PowerWP AI runs Elementor’s own abilities and wraps them in the same permissions, snapshots and rollback. On a published page, Elementor stages the edit, and it goes live only when the app publishes it after your OK. A new page starts as a draft, and the app can give you a preview link.
Which Elementor versions work
Classic pages, with sections, columns, containers and widgets, are edited with PowerWP AI’s own Elementor tools. V4 atomic elements are edited through Elementor’s own abilities.
Example: update a sale page
Example on the demo store your-store.com, with a page called Spring Sale. You ask your AI app:
- “Show me the structure of the Spring Sale page at https://your-store.com/spring-sale/ in plain words. Change nothing.” The app lists the hero section with its heading, text and a Shop now button, then a row of three icon boxes.
- “Give me a list: element, setting, current text, new text. Wait for my OK.” You read it and change one line.
- “Create a checkpoint called ‘before spring sale edit’, then show me a dry run.” The app shows the old and new value of each setting.
- “Apply them, then check the page and look for new errors.” The edit appears under PowerWP AI › Changes with a change id.
What you can roll back
Each edit is recorded, so you can roll it back. Ask the app to roll back that change id, or choose Roll back in Changes. Elementor’s CSS and the page cache are cleared again afterwards.
An edit that was only staged is removed by rolling back its batch. See change log and undo.
Edits to global styles are snapshotted too, and a rollback restores them for every page. Global styles are classes, variables, default styles and components. They need the Settings & maintenance permission, because one change reaches every page.
Permissions, limits and protected pages
- Reading a page needs only Read-only diagnostics, so the Free plan can do it. Editing needs Content & store data on a paid plan.
- The outline shows structure, not looks. Open the page in a browser to check the result.
- Text in editor widgets is stored as HTML, so replacing a phrase needs it as stored.
- Tell your app which pages not to edit without asking, such as the home page, header, footer and checkout. Save that in the site memory.
- A page not built with Elementor is edited as normal content.
Four ready-made recipes cover Elementor. They describe a page, edit it safely, build a new draft page in your site’s style, and find hard-coded colors and fonts.
Which route should you take?
- Elementor’s own MCP if your pages use V4 layouts, you want drafts only, and you prefer a tool from Elementor itself.
- PowerWP AI if your pages use classic widgets. It edits live pages with a dry run and a rollback, and it covers the rest of the site too, such as WooCommerce.
The Free plan lets one AI app read your Elementor pages, with no changes and no end date. Paid plans start at $9 a month per site. The features page and the Elementor use cases show more.
Questions
Does Elementor have an MCP?
Yes. As of October 2026, Elementor offers its own MCP as a beta in Elementor 4.3. It creates drafts only and works on V4 layouts.
Can Claude or ChatGPT edit my Elementor page?
With PowerWP AI, yes. Both connect by signing in to your site. They read the outline, show the exact new texts, run a dry run and save through Elementor after your OK.
Does it work with classic Elementor layouts?
PowerWP AI edits classic pages with its own tools. Elementor says classic V3 widget layouts are planned for its MCP, as of October 2026.
Will it change my design?
Only the settings you approve change, and the dry run shows them first. The outline doesn’t include styles, so look at the page in a browser afterwards.
Try it on your own site. Point your AI app at one Elementor page and ask for its outline first. The Free plan is read-only: your AI app can look at everything and change nothing, with no card and no end date. When you want it to fix things, upgrade with the same key.
