What PowerWP AI does
PowerWP AI lets the AI app you already use work on your WordPress or WooCommerce site, with permissions you set and a change log you can roll back.
PowerWP AI is a WordPress plugin. It lets the AI app you already use, such as Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor or VS Code, look at your WordPress or WooCommerce site, find problems and make changes, while you decide what each app may do and changes are recorded so you can roll them back. It is for site owners, editors and developers.
The AI app is not included. You use your own app and its plan, for example a Claude subscription or a free model that runs on your computer.

How it works#
- You install the plugin on your site and create a connection for your AI app.
- The app talks to your site over MCP, the Model Context Protocol. The plugin offers it 85 tools: diagnostics, error logs, content, WooCommerce orders and products, files, database, plugins and themes, users, backups and more.
- You ask in plain words. The app picks the tools it needs. PowerWP AI checks every call against the permissions of that connection and writes it to the activity log.
A connection is the access you give one AI app: its own key or sign-in, permissions, expiry and log. Claude and ChatGPT connect by signing in with your site's address and your WordPress login, with no key to copy. Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, VS Code and the other apps connect with one message or one click, using a key that PowerWP AI shows once.

These are examples. Examples in these docs use a made-up kitchenware store at your-store.com.

The first three work with the Read-only diagnostics preset. The last two need more permissions, which you grant for each connection.

What keeps it safe#
- Permissions per connection. Reading is always allowed. Every group of write tools, such as content, files, database or plugins, must be granted. Start with the Read-only diagnostics preset. See Permissions and presets.
- Change log with rollback. Changes made through PowerWP AI are recorded with a snapshot of what was there before. You can roll back one change, a WooCommerce batch request, a whole work session or everything after a checkpoint. A few actions cannot be rolled back. See Change log and undo and What can't be undone.
- Automatic health check. After risky changes, such as a plugin, theme or code file, PowerWP AI loads your site again. If the change caused a fatal error, it is reverted. See Automatic health check.
- Rescue mode. If a plugin or theme crashes the site, AI requests from apps that connect with a key start without them, so your app can still read the error and switch off the cause. See Rescue mode.
- Backups to your computer. Backups are built on the server and downloaded to your computer. The server copy is removed once the download is confirmed: an AI app that can run commands does this for you, in the browser you do it yourself. See Backups and restore.
- Switches and a record. One switch pauses all AI access, and read-only mode limits every connection to reading. The activity log records every request with passwords and keys hidden.
- Your data stays between your site and your app. PowerWP never sees what your AI app asks or what your site answers. The plugin contacts PowerWP only for updates and the license check, and sends no content, orders or customers. What your app reads reaches its own AI provider. See Data and privacy.

Free is $0 for one site, with one read-only AI connection and no end date, so you can see what your app finds before it can change anything. Solo ($9 a month), Team ($23 a month) and Crew ($59 a month) add changes and include 1, 3 and 10 AI connections. Every paid plan has every tool and every safety layer. What you need#
WordPress 6.0 or newer, PHP 7.4 or newer, HTTPS on your site, and an AI app that supports remote MCP servers. WooCommerce is optional. Details are in Requirements and compatibility.
